Somber times ahead as it’s time to retire that last Top 10 list which was one of my favorites of all time! Then I remind myself that I can listen to everything that was on the Top 10’er on the All-Time Top 10 playlist and that just stokes the excitement for the new month’s list!…

So much great music out there that is being released this year. The challenge is not finding music to fill up the Top 10 every month, the challenge is picking only 10. It’s crazy! It’s zany! It’s conflicting. Nevertheless, it’s always fire.

July churned out lots of new stuff from the Tweetcore community, including an entire compilation of 30 second songs that you should download for FREE on Bandcamp. Alas, the Tweetcore circle of tracks that ended up on this month’s top 10 are the latest from Matt Derda and what I consider to be a super-group collab track between some of my favorite indie artists: Scoopski, Fuzzruckus, and Mikey J. The playlist also has a healthy dose of artists from the NAS (New Artist Spotlight) community, who also had a very active month in July for new releases. Billly Lowry. Billy effing Lowry with a track I’ve described as “MC5 meets DK.” I’ve already ranted about this track all the way leading up to release, so no surprise at all it’s on here this month. One last minute plug into the list is from a band I saw this last weekend at the Guitars Under the Stars festival (an amazing time, blog post about that later). The band’s name is Beautiful Skeletons, and they are based right in my backyard in Vancouver, Washington. The song is titled “GAFY” which stands for “Goodbye, and F**k You,” and it was the standout track for me in their set they played. Treat yourself! This is a mighty list this month.
