The Melodic Death Metal band Aeon of Awareness from Leipzig, Germany have unearthed their third release, a single entitled “Te Kore” just prior to the new year, on December 23rd, 2021. Their catalog is currently on the verge of celebrating the one year anniversary of their debut single, “Resignation” on March 26th. In between those two singles, the band had also released a four song EP entitled, “Dialogue With The Unconscious” on April 23rd, 2021. The band is carrying that momentum into 2022 creating their second EP, slated for release this Spring. Musically, the band draws inspiration from old school Gothenburg metal, as well as other Death and Black Metal bands. You’ll find their sound to be brutal, epic and compelling.
Relatively new to the landscape in terms of “official releases,” the project is the brainchild of founder, Per Lümbersson and Meta List, a “two man army” that actually launched sometime in 2020. When describing how the project formulated during that time, Per states:
“At a time that confronts us with uncertainties and restrictions on various levels, it’s time to bundle creative energies and put a long-awaited wish into practice. On the one hand, this project represents a return to already known musical shores from younger days. On the other hand, it’s important for us to tread new paths/break new ground and liberate ourselves from the shackles of the past. Thus, the circle is completed.”
Per Lümbersson started listening to Metal at the age of 13 and his first main influences were German bands like Rammstein, Blind Guardian, Kreator, Rage and Sodom. In 2008 he joined his first band, an old school Death Metal Band, named Bloodland. A consummate professional, Per has been touring with bands for almost 15 years. In August 2020 he became a solo artist, and followed his passions that led him to Aeon of Awareness.
Meta List, not only is the vocals heard on Aeon of Awareness, but is also lead vocalist of the Death Doom Metal band Calliophis. With several years as a vocalist under his belt, his vocal presence and skillful deep growls are definitive to the sound of the band.
Stefan Roth completes the trio, he joined Aeon of Awareness in May of 2021. He is also the drummer of Not For Saints. Check out this playthrough by Stephan, of the band’s first single “Resignation” here on YouTube:
The band’s artwork is expressive and certainly adds to the overall vibe of the band. I really enjoyed reviewing the art and photography of Studio Charlotte Eleonore, whom does the band’s artwork.
